2022-2023 Guided Listening Lecture 3/4

Guided Listening Lectures with JoAnna Cochenet

Theme: “American Landscape: Wonders of the Wild West”

Guided Listening sessions with conductor JoAnna Cochenet help listeners better understand well-known works and lesser-known treasures of the orchestral, chamber orchestra, film, documentary, ballet, and opera repertory.

This year’s theme is “American Landscape: Wonders of the Wild West.” The music and discussions this year will focus on stories, history, and scenery from parts of the Western United States. Inspired by unique and fascinating materials, the works are representative of different perspectives from the “American West” in music; and music which has only been written over the past century. Examples from parallel works will be drawn for comparison and contrast, as the deeper dives go into the presented music in each session.
