SMICI Concert Completion

This weekend I finished conducting on a concert along with several other conductors in Waynesville, NC for the Smoky Mountain International Conducting Institute and Competition, with the fabulous local symphony musicians and studying under the observation of Master Teacher Dwight Oltman. Always fun to work with and learn from fantastic musicians.

A Congratulations is due to one of my students, Joaquin Moreno, violin, who has received Honorable Mention in the Intermediate Instrumental Division of Levine Music's 2017 Marlin-Engel Solo Competition. Proud of your hard work!

NSO Outdoor Summer Concert

The NSO, a mixed group with students from all 3 student orchestral ensembles, performed as the first youth orchestra ever to perform on the Town of Clifton Park's Children's Performing Arts Series at Clifton Commons Park in NY! It was a great turnout, a beautiful warm summery weather evening, and a great mix of music! Congrats to all and best of luck to all next year!

Successful NSO concert!

Yesterday all of the ensembles in the NSO youth orchestra put on a very successful spring concert! It was exciting. We had an intern conductor, a student conductor, a guest visitor for a special composer project, and lots of really great, hard music played well!

Jay Shulman's visit to our NSO rehearsal and concert this spring representing his father, composer and cellist Mr. Alan Shulman, made a great impression on our orchestra and family audience. Grateful for New York music history and relationships with current musicians and local composers. What a great opportunity! Thanks Jay!
